Do any of y’all lovely people own a Ford Edge? I can’t tell if the a/c in my rental is broken or if I’m too stupid to make it work.
I packed a picnic dinner because I didn’t want to eat at Dairy Queen and it’s absolutely amazing. There’s beer in the cooler too. For once in my life, I’ve planned something.

Vega, hmm. Dalhart is usually my go to. I try never to have to stop for long though and haven’t needed to spend the night.
You coming or going?

What’s the issue with the A/C?
2018 in my driveway. I’ll see a 2019 at work tomorrow.

This is a 2018. I have the temp set to lo, “a/c” button pushed, fan on (for example) 3, recirc button pushed, and the face vents set on the touch screen but the air is not blowing cold. Is there any secret to the touch screen that I need to find to make it actually blow cold air? Or did I just get a broken one? That windshield is a freaking solar panel in the desert.

Inspecting in Vega tomorrow and maybe through Tuesday morning . I’m not sure how long it’ll take. Then driving back to CO!

My father-in-law was born in Dalhart. We passed through there last summer on our way home from South Dakota. Not much there.

Passed through Vega last summer on our way home from South Dakota. Stayed in Amarillo. Not a whole hell of a lot out there. What brings you to Vega?

I was born in South Dakota, not much there either.
Dalhart is almost like the modern Wall, SD (but with less interesting stuff), just the last place to stop for awhile in the middle of nowhere.

That is an unfortunate stretch of Texas, and it doesn’t get too much better into that part of NM. On the upside, I recall that area of I-40 smelling a lot better than Dalhart.

I had to inspect some agricultural fields. It was a really pleasant day, to be honest. I got a smidgen sunburned though.

“ inspect some agricultural fields”
Can you elaborate?

Hah, literally just drove and walked around some sorghum fields and grain bins and took pictures of them (and associated wells and pivot points). I’m looking for environmental concerns for a property sale but this was a neat change from the run of car dealerships I’ve been on.

So you are an environmental inspector of some sort? I need to share the pictures I took at Cadillac Ranch. That place should be some sort of Superfund site.

Yep! Pretty much - environmental due diligence. It’s cool, the basic premise of an inspection is always the same but I get to learn so much irrelevant stuff by inspecting different sites (like sorghum breeding, or screen printing, or how plastic bags are manufactured, etc.)
And oh god, that’s awful. I almost drove over to see it but ran out of time. The paint on those cars must be inches thick by now.
